PERSUASION

COMPARISON BETWEEN THE BOOK AND THE MOVIE 1995

Persuasion is a great story about a family with the last name Elliot, people who were really important for their high status. This family was highly respected. The father, Sir Walter Elliot, was a man who was losing his fortune. He has 3 daughters Elizabeth, Anne, and Mary and he has a wife called Lady Elliott but she died fourteen years ago. His young daughter Mary is married to a rich man named Charles Musgrove. In this nice story, we can see that a woman with a strong character is a close friend of the Elliot family which is why she is advising Sir Elliot to spend less money and rent the family house Kellynch Hall to recover his fortune. Another important event that we can see in this story is that the young daughter Mary has 2 children but Anne was taking care of them since Mary was feeling incapable of taking care of them. The most important event in the story is the persuasion that many people did with Anne since she was really in love with a man called Frederick Wentworth but Lady Russell and Anne´s family persuaded her not to marry him because he had no money, he had nothing and so she rejects him and doesn't marry him. Eight years later she sees him again but this time she sees him become a very important captain with high status, but she will get married to another man but at the end of the story we can see how he asks for her hand and they get marry happily despite everything they had to go through. So both versions of this story are really interesting since the movie is really related to the book and the characters could They were able to dramatize this book very well, although it lacked many characters and some things from the book, but it was great to see the love that each one has, the Captain Wentworth and Anne. I have loved this book since in the beginning I thought it was boring but it is a nice book.👏💖

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE BOOK AND THE MOVIE

1-Approximately 54 characters are shown in the book and fewer appear in the film.

2-When the Captain writes a letter for Anne in the movie, he shows her where he left it for her to read later and he returns because he has forgotten his umbrella, but in the book, it is mentioned that what he has forgotten are the gloves.

3- The end of the movie and the book are very different since in the movie it only appears that the captain asks for Anne's hand, and the movie ends, so, the end of the movie is not understood since only one ship appears at the end, but in the book, we can see that they get married and the book shows that after they get married, Captain Wentworth help Mrs Smith who is friend´s Anne to recover her status and her economic.
